KMC launch on line appointment request service

You can now request an appointment on line from this web site. Click on the “Make an Appointment” tab at the top of this page and complete the on line form. This will send a message to one of our staff who will then contact you with possible times and dates. The on line appointment service is however only open to registered patients of the practice and is not suitable for urgent problems. If you need a same day or urgent appointment, please contact the surgery by phone.

Flu Vaccination Time

Flu vaccinations are in full swing at KMC at the moment. The vaccine offers effective protection against the flu and is especially important for those with any chronic medical conditions or those over 65. If you had not had yours and wish to get one, please contact the practice for an appointment with our practice nurse.

New Staff at KMC

We are very pleased to announce that we have been joined by practice nurse Karen Canning. Karen brings with her a wealth or experience, qualifications and training and we have not doubt will be a huge asset to the practice. We also welcome Dr. Conor Maguire who is an experience GP Registrar attached to the TCD/HSE Vocational Training Programme for General Practice. Conor has particular experience and training in the care of older patients having worked for a number of years in this field prior to beginning his training in General Practice.

Flu Virus Hits Ireland

Despite the mild weather, Influenza has arrived in Ireland. The Health Protection Surveillance Agency (HPSC) have reported a sharp increase in flu like illness among their sentinel GP practices. This experience would match what we have experienced here at Kilmacud Medical Centre over the past few weeks.

Although we have delivered hundreds of flu vaccines out to our patients over the past six months, there are still individuals who are at risk and have not received the vaccine. As well as the well known “at risk” groups such as those with

  • Asthma or Chronic Obstructive Airways Disease
  • Diabetes
  • Chronic heart failure
  • Chronic Kidney, liver or neurological disease
  • Immunosuppression due being on medications or due to immune deficiency

The vaccine is also recommended for all patients over 65, babies under 2 years of age, pregnant mothers and those who are overweight (BMI of greater than 40).

If you think you fall into any of these groups, please get in contact with the surgery to arrange a flu vaccination as soon as possible.

Medical Centre Features in Cancer Launch

The Kilmacud Medical Centre and Dr. Brian Meade recently featured in the launch of the National Cancer Control Programme electronic messaging system. A video accompanying the launch was partly filmed here and both RTE and TV3 came to record interviews on the new electronic referral system.
